Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

Incredible amounts of time are wasted typing information from paper documents into computers. Imagine being able to scan a document directly to an application like Microsoft Word where it could be edited.

What Is It?
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) converts scanned text to editable text.

What Does It Do?
The technology reads text off of a scanned image. The document can then be opened in an editing application like Microsoft Word, Excel or Outlook. Or, you can create a searchable PDF. OCR technology is also used for Document Capture and Electronic Document Management applications.

Eliminate Retyping
Retyping can be eliminated. The software is highly accurate when scanning typewritten documents. After the document is converted to editable format, a quick spell check can take care of any errors.

Keep Original Formatting
New OCR technology keeps the original formatting of the document. This means that original fonts and sizes are kept, reducing the amount of time it takes to edit the document.

Create Searchable PDF's
Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) documents have become a standard in document distribution. Make your PDF files searchable. Simply scan your file to a folder. You can then use Adobe Acrobat Reader to search the full text of your documents to quickly find the one you need.
